ICE by the Numbers
Total deportations were actually down in 2017.
Compared with 2016, the last year of the Obama administration, all deportations from the United States were down in 2017, the first year of the Trump administration: 226,119 versus 240,255.
Obviously, that number doesn't tell the whole story. So what is the most significant change?
For one thing, the number of deportations in 2017 for people who had no criminal record, but were unauthorized to live in the United States, was 13,744. That is more than double the numbers from 2015, which shows 5,939 deportations in the same category in 2015, and 5,014 in 2016.
